Haciendo jabón líquido de una pastilla / making liquid soap from bar

¡Hola! Hace un tiempo escribí una entrada acerca de la realización de pastillas de jabón con aceite usado. Hoy os voy a dejar la receta que uso para convertir ese jabón de pastilla en jabón líquido. Yo lo uso como gel de ducha y para lavar las manos, no sale tanta espuma como con el jabón comercial pero es muy agradable y limpia muy bien.

Hi! Some time ago I published an entry about making soap from used olive oil. Today I will publish my recipe to transform this soap into liquid soap. I use it in the shower and also to wash my hands. It is not so foamy as commercial soap, but it is very pleasant and it cleans very well.

El primer paso es pesar el jabón y rallarlo
The first step is to weight and grate it.

En una cazuela se pone un volumen de agua igual al peso del jabón multiplicado por 3,5. Yo suelo añadir un poco más, siempre se pierde un poquito por evaporación. Y además añado alguna hierba aromática para darle olor al jabón, me gusta mucho añadir hojas de romero.
The volume of water obtained from multiplying the weight of soap by 3.5 is added in a pan. I usually add a little more water, some is always lost by evaporation. And also I add some herbs to give some nice smell to the soap. I love rosemary smell, so I put some rosemary leaves.

Se deja a fuego lento 5 ó 10 minutos para hacer una infusión. Después se añade el jabón rallado y se remueve cada poco, para que el jabón vaya disolviéndose. Cuando ya está disuelto (se verá un líquido transparente en la cazuela) se deja hervir despacio durante unos 15 minutos.
Rosemary and water are kept in low heat for 5 or 10 minutes to make an infusion. Then, the grated soap is added, and it should be removed to dissolve it in the infusion. When the soap is totally dissolved it must be slowly boiled for 10-15 minutes.

Después, solo queda filtrarlo para eliminar las hierbas del jabón, y dejarlo enfriar. ¡Ya está preparado!
Then, it has only to be filtered to remove the rosemaye leaves, and let it cold. And it's ready!!

Lámpara / Lampshade

¡Buenas! En mi nueva casa no hay ni una lámpara de techo, así que decidí empezar haciendo ésta, que encontré en el siguiente enlace. Es muy sencilla de realizar, pero lleva bastante tiempo y requiere su buena dosis de paciencia, aunque el resultado bien lo merece.

Hi! Here in my new home there was no pendant lamp, so I decided to make this one, which I found in this link. It is quite simple to make, but it takes quite a lot of time and some patient is required, but the result is rather satisfactory. 


Para hacer la lámpara, se necesita una lámpara china de papel (2 €, aproximadamente), tijeras, papel (yo usé papel vegetal del horno, me gusta el color que tiene y además es resistente al calor) y pegamento. Pensaba hacerlo con la pistola de pegamento, pero al final lo hice con cola blanca.

Items required to make the lamp: a chinese paper lantern (2 €, approximately, in any Chinese store), scissors, paper (I used oven paper, I like the not-totally white color and also that this paper is hot-resistant), and glue. I was planning to use glue gun, but I finally used PVA (polyvinyl acetate).

Solo hay que cortar triángulos de papel, aproximadamente del mismo tamaño pero no tienen que ser exactamente iguales, e ir pegándolos a la lámpara, empezando por la parte de abajo.
You just have to cut triangles in paper, same size approximately but not necessary exact size. Then, glue them to the lantern, beginning on the bottom of the lamp.

Realización de bocamangas / Cuff making

Se acerca la Semana Santa. En León la ciudad se transforma, llenándose de procesiones y "papones" (las personas que pertenecen a las diferentes Cofradías y participan en las procesiones; para más información, http://www.semanasantaleon.org/). Este año me he incorporado en la cofradía leonesa de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias y Soledad (http://www.angustiasysoledad.org/), que lleva un cordón amarillo bordeando las bocamangas. Para no tener que estar quitando y poniendo el cordón, lo cual acabará estropeándolo (o el cordón perdido), me voy a hacer las bocamangas completas, con el cordón incluido. Y ya de paso, voy haciendo fotos de los diferentes pasos para que podáis hacer unas, si las necesitáis.

Easter is coming! My town transforms in that time, it gets full of processions and "papones" (people who are members of the different Brotherhoods and participates in processions; for more information, please visit http://www.semanasantaleon.org/). This year I joined another brotherhood, "Nuestra Señora de las Angustias y Soledad" (http://www.angustiasysoledad.org/), which wears a yellow cord around their cuffs. I could add and remove the cord, but it is quite annoying and I will probably lose the cords. Thus, I decide to make complete cuff, cord included. And I'm taking pictures, maybe someone need also make cuffs or something similar.


Para empezar, con otras bocamangas como modelo y la tela doblada derecho contra derecho, marcamos la forma de los puños con un hilván flojo.
Firstly, I used other cuffs as model. With double fabric (right faces inside), I marked shape with loose basting.

Abrimos el hilván, recortamos la tela alrededor y los hilvanes entre las dos capas de tela; así ya tenemos las dos piezas marcadas, para hacer las 2 bocamangas (una para cada manga).

I separated both edges of fabric and cut the cuffs 1 cm around the shape. Finally, cut the thread between both fabric peaces. Thus, we have 2 fabric pieces, ready to make 2 cuffs, one for each sleeve.

Se plancha la pieza de tela por la marca externa de la bocamanga.
I ironed the fabric just in the line of the shape of the cuffs.

A la vez que colocamos el cordón amarillo en el borde, sujetar el dobladillo hacia el interior, poniendo especial cuidado en que las esquinas queden bien pulidas.
Pin yellow cord at the edge, at the same time that the hem is put in place. Take special care on the corners.

 Coser a la máquina, con una de las puntadas para coger dobladillos con puntada invisible, teniendo cuidado de coser el cordón, como se ve en la foto.
Sew the cord and hem, with one of the stitches suitable to sew blind hem stitch. Be careful to sew hem as well as the edge of the cord, as shown in the picture.

A continuación, se cose una cinta de raso negra en el borde de la bocamanga, por el derecho. Colocarla y sujetarla con alfileres, con cuidado de que las esquinas queden bien colocadas.
Then, a black satin ribbon must be sewn on the right side. Pin it in place, taking special care of the corners.

Coser el lazo por sus dos lados (externo e interno). Como el cordón es más grueso que la tela, coserlo con el prensatelas de coser cremalleras.
Thus, the ribbon is sewn by its two sides. Since the cord is thicker than the fabric, it is better to use the zipper foot.

Para terminar, se hacen 3 ojales para sujetar la bocamanga al interior de la manga, y se hace la costura del dobladillo inferior.
To finish, 3 buttonholes are made, to hold cuffs in place in the sleeves, and the last hem is sewn.
